The Kings Arms is Re-Opening

After nearly a year closed, we are delighted to announce the opening of the Kings Arms at Strete as a community pub, owned and run by the people of the village. In these peculiar times, we will not be able to have a typical opening night where we can all squeeze in, rub shoulders, hug each other and so on. That will have to wait. Instead, we are going to have an opening weekend starting on Friday the 16th October. The plan is to open 7 days a week until the end of October. Monday to Saturday, the pub/cafe opens at 11:00am and closes at 14:30 with food service from 12:00 to 14:00, then in the evening we are open 17:00 to 22:00, with food service from 17:00 to 20:30. On Sundays, opening hours are 11:00 to 22:00 with Sunday lunch served from 12:00 to 18:00. New hours will be announced for Winter in November.
It is highly advisable that you book. All service will be table service - as per current restrictions, there can be no standing. We have a mix of tables for two, four and a couple of tables for 6. At the moment, we are sorry to say it is nearly impossible to move tables around in a different configuration. We hope you can understand.
To book, for now can you please email bookings@kingsarmsatstrete.co.uk.
Finally, if you can, please download the NHS Track & Trace app as all pubs are now required to use it when possible.

Volunteer Call to Arms for Strete Community Pub

Can you help your community pub by volunteering?
Volunteers will not only be key to the pub’s long-term success but vital in creating a vibrant community feel.
The pub team have already recruited a number of people to the volunteer group but there are still a number of tasks that they would love your help with.
If you would like to join the volunteer group, please contact Andy at andy.kingsarms.strete@gmail.com or call on 07504 062 484.
There are tasks to get the pub open that need volunteers and tasks for when the pub is open. Of course, the same people may want to get involved to do both.
Here's the list for getting the pub open:

1. Repoint the paving.
2. Deep clean cellar and kitchen.
3. Sign writing and chalkboards.
4. Repair / Replace Fire Doors
5. Install picket fence at the bottom of the garden

And this is the help needed when the pub is open:

1. Daytime and/or night time bar staff.
2. Serving staff and table clearing when we are busy.
3. Regular cleaning.
4. Empties and storing deliveries.
5. Plating up in the kitchen at busy times.
6. Washing up in the kitchen.
7. Takeaway delivery.
8. Help manage some of the key events.
9. Laundry.
10.Electrician and plumber for two or three tasks.
11.Mason to help create a doorway and fit a door.
12.Repairs to the kids' playground.
If you think you would like to get involved and want to find out more, please contact Andy at andy.kingsarms.strete@gmail.com or call on 07504 062 484.
Andy looks forward to hearing from as many as possible who would like to take part in bringing the Kings Arms back to life.
Thanks.
