Strete Parish Council
Strete Parish Council welcomes you to the official village website and hopes that you will find it interesting. We are normally a committee of seven plus the Clerk and meet on the third Thursday evening in every month. However, we are currently two committee members short. If anyone wishes to consider becoming a member of the parish council, please contact the Clerk for further details on streteclerk@gmail.com
Members of the public have the opportunity to speak on any subject at the beginning of every meeting during the Open Forum.
Strete is a small parish with a population of approximately 430. Although this number changes frequently with the seasons, we do have a lot of activities going on in the Village. There is an excellent Village Hall equipped with many modern facilities, which can be hired for all types of functions and meetings at a reasonable cost. For bookings, speak to Danni on 07841 505797.
Blackbird Wood is a small community woods area where you can picnic and walk the dog. You are also welcome to walk your dog in our Village Green, with its wildlife section, picnic benches and stunning views of Start Bay. The village also has a children’s play park with climbing frames and a picnic bench.
The village magazine, Stretewise, gives details of all the activities and other information for the village including the Parish Council minutes. To obtain a copy or submit an article, e-mail your enquiry to the Editor, Dave Jones, on stretewise@outlook.com.
We hope you will come and visit us and pop into our Community Operated pub The Kings Arms, which has stunning sea views over Start Bay, or use our shop and Post Office, which is open daily. Alternatively, you may wish to stay at the campsite and enjoy the natural beauty of our coastline and countryside. You will be made most welcome.
